What We Offer

Typical Hockey Day

Grade 5-8 students have hockey academy class every other day during the entire school year.

On-Ice - Students load their hockey gear on the bus and depart for the arena. Students arrive at the arena 15-20 minutes before their ice session starts. On-ice sessions are approximately 60 minutes long. Afterwards, students eat a healthy snack before returning to school for their afternoon classes.

Off-Ice - Students arrive at the same time as their on-ice sessions. Student get approximately 75-90 minutes of off-ice instruction before returning to their schools.

Equipment & Transportation

No Equipment, no problem! The WHA will help find you hockey equipment to get you on the ice. Contact us for more information.

Transportation: Students who attend Wetaskiwin and Millet area schools are provided transportation to and from their WHA sessions each day.

Students who attend WRPS schools outside of these areas are able to attend our programs but must provide transportation themselves.

Storage Locker

To support families during the busy hockey season, we provide a storage locker for WHA students and parents to keep their hockey equipment during the year. The WHA storage lockers are at both Co-op Place and Agriplex. Additionally, parents can drop off and store equipment at their child's school as needed.

Nutrition Program

After each session, students are provided a juice box and healthy snack to help them re-fuel before heading back to school.

Student Apparel

Students were provided with Hockey Canada apparel to wear while participating in the academy. Students were able to keep the following items: Hockey jersey, hockey socks, training shirt and shorts.
