During March 2024, the Wetaskiwin Hockey Academy launched a Learn To Skate program at Parkdale School. Grade 3-4 students participated in 5 - 50 minute ice sessions, focusing on the development of FUNdamental skating skills including agility-balance-coordination, edge control, starting-stopping and turning. WHA provided skates and helmets for students which helped introduce many students to skating for the first time. Other students used on-ice activities to build confidence and further their skating skills in a fun and positive environment.
The Wetaskiwin Hockey Academy plans is to expand the Learn To Skate program in 2024-2025.
